BioLOC™ Forms Advisory BoardSeptember 28, 2005. Columbus, OH. BioLOC™ LLC, an early-stage bioscience company, announced today the formation of a Board of Business Advisors to assist with charting the strategic direction of the company. The 5-member Board consists of Don Caudy, Andy Tang, Vasan Venkatraman, John Lewis, Jr. and Wil Schroter. Caudy, former President of Edison Welding Institute, is President of Sodate Product Solutions, which serves the medical diagnostics market. Tang is the co-founder and President/CEO of Scientific Forming Technologies Corp., an engineering software company. Lewis is Vice President of Omeris, which promotes Ohio’s life science industry to global audiences. Schroter is a serial entrepreneur who has successfully formed and sold several businesses; additionally he writes a nationally syndicated column on startup company strategies and has appeared on major national TV programs covering startup topics. “Each member brings extensive and diverse experience in the commercialization of new technology,” said Dr. Neil Drobny, Chairman & CEO of BioLOC™. He added that all are long-time members of the Columbus business community and several, including Drobny himself, spent part of their careers at Battelle. BioLOC™ is commercializing technology for conducting biochemical analyses in rapidly expanding areas such as medical diagnostics and medical research, pharmaceutical development, food safety, environmental monitoring and homeland security. Dr. Tony Dennis, President of Omeris, which is a founding partner of BioLOC™, said, “BioLOC™ is working on solutions that will be needed to expand delivery of health care services in the 21st century, particularly to an aging population.” The Company was formed in 2004 and the technology has been under development
at The Ohio State University College of Engineering – Department
of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering for about 5 years. BioLOC™
is backed by $1.56 million in grant money from Ohio’s Third Frontier
Action Fund and matching funds from the National Science Foundation.
BioLOC’s offices are in the Business Technology Center, the business
incubator on Kinnear Road in Columbus. |
